“How many hours are required to study for IIT JEE?”, it’s a most asked question by students. So many answers are available in the cyber world. But, the fact is, it depends on the individual to individual. There can’t be any fixed prescribed duration for preparation, not only of IIT JEE but also for any competitive exams.
For preparation, quality of study session matters a lot. The time you give to your body to absorb the information creates new neural pathways which help you absorb the same information fast. Our mind absorbs information and creates such neural pathways when you sleep or when you involve in light activities. This is the dilute way of thinking where you do not focus on the study material which you learned. You purposely concentrate away from it and let the information settle in your brain.
Thus your preparation should have short sessions of study having gaps for rest in which you do leisurely activities. Ideally, 20-25 mins deep study session free from distractions followed by 5-10 mins of recall and then break time are best ways to increase your study efficiency. If you are starting the preparation, you can do 3-4 such study sessions and then slowly increase these sessions as you develop the stamina for more accumulation of information.
You will get to know your limit when you follow this study method. Overloaded studying can make your mind work slowly.
Therefore, take proper breaks while studying and stay positive.
